How to Buy a Wedding Veil Online

Buying a wedding veil online sounds simple until you're ten tabs deep into a sea of identical product photos, wildly different price points, and zero idea what separates a $60 veil from a $600 one.

The short answer: a lot. Here's the longer one.

The detail most brides overlook

Check the Tulle Colour Before Anything Else

Not all white is the same white. Bright white fabrics often carry a blue or cool undertone that looks harsh in natural light and clashes with almost every wedding dress on the market. Before you order anything, check how the brand describes their tulle - are they specific about it?

At TEMPÊTE, every veil is made in soft off-white tulle, a warm natural tone chosen specifically because it photographs beautifully and works with nearly every dress, whether it's ivory, champagne, or a slightly warmer white. If a brand doesn't mention the undertone at all, that's worth noting.

What the product photos won't tell you

How to Read Construction Quality From a Listing

A veil photograph tells you the style. The construction tells you whether it will last. When shopping online, look for:

Hand-cut edges with no fraying or uneven hemlines - many inexpensive veils skip this step entirely. The way tulle is gathered and attached at the top is where cheap veils show their hand. Uneven bunching, visible glue, or rough stitching at the gather point is a red flag. And check the comb: it should be metal, secure, and attached firmly. Flimsy combs are the number one reason veils don't stay put during a ceremony.

Our Midi Blusher Tulle Veil and Amarelle Pearl Veil are made to order in our Vancouver studio, every detail is finished by hand before it ships.

The honest breakdown

What You're Actually Paying For

When a veil costs $200–$500, here's where that goes: quality tulle, skilled labour, hand-finishing, careful packaging, and someone who will actually respond to your email. When a veil costs $60, it usually reflects all of those things being skipped.

You're going to wear this in every photograph from one of the most significant days of your life. It's worth buying once, and buying well.

Read the Return Policy - Then Read It Again

Veils are final sale at most bridal brands, including TEMPÊTE - and for good reason. Tulle is delicate, and once a veil has been tried on with makeup or hairspray, it can't be resold. What this means for you as a buyer: do your research before you order, not after.

Look for brands that offer detailed product descriptions, multiple photos on a model, and clear sizing information. If you're unsure between two styles or lengths, reach out. A brand worth buying from will answer your questions.
